Knowing when to draw the line (Pt 1)

A relationship is supposed to be a mutual process of giving and taking, a beneficial process, a partnership that gives room for growth. Wait a second though, when i say give and take, i don’t mean financially, although that is inclusive in a relationship but right now that’s not my point.
Give and take in this concept refers to time, effort, compassion, comfort, a shoulder to lean on, assistance, friendship and this is where most of us fail. We enter relationships with people that end up leaving us high and dry, emotionally empty - this is bad for the mental health, how can you rely on someone that won’t be there when you need them the most?
